Petra is a theatre director, co-founder of the company, and one half of a duo in artistic co-leadership that brings together a team from various disciplines and fields.
Petra Tejnorová began creating acclaimed theatre productions during her studies at the Theatre Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (DAMU). In 2008, she was nominated for the Alfred Radok Award in the Talent category. Her work spans documentary theatre, physical and auteur theatre, and socially engaged projects that delve into diverse communities and social strata.
In her latest projects Innocence and Nick, she has explored the genre of live cinema, connecting theatre and film.
As an author and director, Petra has collaborated with several prominent Czech theatres, including Dejvice Theatre, HaDivadlo, Archa Theatre, PONEC – the Dance Venue, and Studio ALTA. For the New Stage of the National Theatre, she created the productions Edge and TimINg, and directed Love and Information (2016) and Address to the Nation (2019) for the National Theatre.
She has long collaborated with the ensembles 11:55 and VerTeDance, and participated in the European project Identity.Move!
Her international projects have been showcased at respected festivals such as Zdarzenia in Tczew (Poland), Stockholm Fringe Festival, APAP in New York, and FiraTàrrega in Spain, among others.
Petra is also a filmmaker. She directed two short films, including The Book About the Plan, which won in the WAVES category at Ostrava Picture 2013 and received the award for Best Cinematography at the international Kamera Oko film festival. Her most recent documentary, Hello, Is Anyone There? (2017), was created in collaboration with Tanec Praha.
In addition to directing, she also performs – together with choreographer Tereza Ondrová, she danced in Same Same, a production by French choreographer Karine Ponties.
Petra is a lecturer at the Department of Alternative and Puppet Theatre at the Theatre Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (KALD DAMU), where she shares her experience with the next generation of theatre-makers.
